Brewery Wadworth gets behind cyclists with MAMIL campaign

Wadworth, the independent family brewer based in Wiltshire is getting behind cyclists with its title of the Official Sponsor of the MAMIL (Middle Aged Men in Lycra).  The brewery is asking South West cycling clubs big and small, old and new to come forward to show why they should be the club the brewery sponsors for 2018.

The campaign is using social media channels to target cyclists and club members to put their case forward using the #6XMAMIL.  The chosen club will receive branded 6X cycling jerseys for members to wear and food and drink vouchers to enjoy in Wadworth pubs.

One stipulation for sponsorship is that the club must put members forward for the Wadworth Sportive in June and each member will raise £100 for Prostate Cancer UK.  The team should contain 10 riders.  So far nine clubs have put themselves forward and the campaign has reached over 32,000 cyclists.

Speaking about the MAMIL campaign, CEO for Wadworth, Chris Welham said, “Cycling is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and we believe a significant number enjoy a pint of beer after a ride.  We decided to make Wadworth 6X the official sponsor of the MAMIL and in doing so raise money for Prostate Cancer UK”.

Wadworth Sportive is the Wadworth brewery cycle ride being held on Saturday 30th June.  There are two distances to choose from 25 miles and 50 miles starting and ending at the Wadworth brewery.  All riders receive a 6X medal and a goodie bag at the end.  At the end of ride there is a bar and BBQ.  Wadworth has their own team taking part in the event.  For more information about the event go to www.letsgovelo.co.uk/event/wadworth-brewery-sportive-30th-june-2018
