Wadworth, the pub operator and family brewer, has appointed its first support centre apprentices in Devizes allowing them to learn while they work in the marketing and business administration departments.

Cameron Whittle, 17 years old, who joined the company after completing his AS qualifications, is the company’s first brand marketing apprentice. He will complete the Chartered Institute of Marketing Level 3 and Level 4 and will be supporting the marketing team with implementing the strategy for Wadworth’s iconic favourite beer 6X. As part of his apprenticeship, Cameron will be introduced to both the grocery and pub & restaurant sectors, where he’ll understand the importance of insight, brand planning and marketing activation which really target and engage the right customer.

Maisie Hale, also aged 17, has joined Wadworth as the business administration apprentice. Already holding a BTEC Level 3 International Business Diploma, Maisie felt it was the right time to put the skills she learnt from her diploma into practice. In addition to the field experience, Maisie is mentored by a tutor who monitors her progress at Wadworth, alongside studying Level 3 Business Administration qualification with Wiltshire College.

Chris Welham, chief executive, comments: “We’re delighted to be adding to our existing apprentice scheme, which stands at over 50 across our pub estate and support centre. At Wadworth we’re keen to nurture local young people and are pleased to see how they develop throughout their apprenticeship with us. Thanks to an in-depth development plan created by our Learning and Development team, our apprentices undertake assessments and set assignments to ensure they are able to put the theory they have learned into practice.’
