The Barge Inn gets a makeover
£150,000 investment transforms canal side country pub
The Barge Inn in Seend has received a £150,000 makeover and a new manager Anthony Lee to firmly put the canal side pub on the waterways map. The investment has created a much more light and open interior with all new furnishings, innovative wall coverings and an up to date bar layout. The Wadworth pub is situated on the edge of the Kennet & Avon canal in Wiltshire and has been serving visitors since 1857. The refurbishment has highlighted and retained many of its original features with log fires, exposed beams and stone floors standing out.
The new look makes the most of this famous inn ensuring whether it is rain or shine there is enough room for everyone visiting. There are over 200 covers outside on the canal side and a further 165 now inside. The pub still has an area that can be used for private functions and parties and has 3 moorings for canal boats.
Regional development manager for Wadworth, Denise Sheridan said, “The Barge investment looks fantastic and we are really pleased that we’ve been able to improve this beautiful inn and still retain its character and features. Our team at the Barge led by new manager Anthony are pleased to be welcoming back old and new customers and showing off the new look and drinks range that’s available”.
The Barge serves fresh home cooked food every day including its famous Sunday Roasts and has launched a new premium gin menu with the re-opening.
