180-mile ‘One Man & His Dog’ walking duo take a ride on Wadworth Dray

On Friday 26^th October, Dorothy House chief executive John Davies and his springer spaniel Myrtle met the magnificent Wadworth brewery shire horses while passing through Devizes on their 180-mile One Man & His Dog walking tour. The tour will visit all 28 Dorothy House shops in 20 towns across the hospice’s 700 square mile region. It.aims to raise funds and awareness of local hospice, Dorothy House and their future plans for meeting rising end of life care needs.

John and Myrtle took the chance to rest their weary legs while being transported around the town by the brewery’s dray and their iconic shire horses, Max and Sam who weigh a remarkable one tonne each. John, Myrtle and the Dorothy House team met with members of the shire horse team at Wadworth as they supported this important awareness and fundraising event.

The walking tour launches the hospice’s bold 'Everyday, Everyone' plan for 2018-2025 to deliver outstanding palliative and end-of-life care across Bath and North-East Somerset, Wiltshire and Somerset. John Davies and the Dorothy House team are out and about sharing the hospice’s vision for the future, meeting with local people, businesses, charities and community groups and raising vital funds for patient care.
